What was originally reported as a transformer explosion in Ossining that closed a road for several hours, knocking out power to dozens of residents, was actually caused after a tree fell on the lines, according to Allan Drury, Con Edison Public Affairs manager, police said.
The tree fell around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and dropped lines onto Hudson Street, closing it between Broad Street and Liberty Street as Con Edison employees make repairs.
Ossining police report the roadway has reopened, but 49 customers still remain without power as Con Edison finishes repairs to the lines, Drury said.
